Home Visits

Doctor's bag

When a patient is too ill to visit the surgery, a home visit may be requested. Patients are asked to telephone before 10.30, if possible, giving the reason for the visit and the degree of urgency. Please remember that several patients can be seen at the surgery in the time it takes to do a home visit, therefore visits will only be made for medical reasons.

Visits will not be made because patients have transport or babysitting difficulties.

It is safe to bring children with temperatures to surgery. They will be seen more quickly, and, if infectious, can be accommodated in a separate room.

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
